Interactive SEO checklist
Set up the basics
Do you know your goal, your customers and who can access the right accounts?
Tick a box only after you have checked the task on the live website or in the relevant account.
How to do it
Inspect each web address in Google Search Console. Check that it loads, names the right canonical, meaning preferred web address, and is not blocked by robots instructions, which tell crawlers what they may access.
How to do it
Open Google's Search Console, verify ownership through your domain settings where possible, then check the Pages and Performance reports.
Learn what customers search for
Do your pages use the words your customers use and answer what they need?
Language and intent examples
A commercial search might be “SEO consultant Nepal”; a local search, “dentist in Lalitpur”; an informational search, “नेपालमा कम्पनी दर्ता कसरी गर्ने”; and a transactional search, “book Chitwan hotel”. Test English, Devanagari and natural Roman Nepali only when your customers use them.
How to do it
Use suggestions to learn how people word a search, not how often they search. Group phrases that ask the same question or support the same decision.
How to do it
Make a sheet with the search phrase, what the person wants, the page address, the person responsible and the work status. My keyword mapping guide explains the full method.
Keep your Google Business Profile accurate
Does your profile match what customers will find when they contact or visit you?
Fictional description example
Fictional example: “Himal View Dental is a general dental clinic in Lalitpur offering consultations, preventive care and restorative treatment by appointment. Patients can contact the clinic for information about access, opening times and treatment.” Replace every detail with facts you have checked, and leave out promotional claims and keyword lists.
How to do it
Follow Google's official add or claim guidance. Google controls the available method and waiting time.
Make every page clear and useful
Can customers quickly understand the page and know what to do next?
Before and after
Replace a vague title such as “Home” with “Dental Clinic in Lalitpur | Fictional Clinic”. A meta description can change from “Best services.” to “Explore dental services and appointment information in Lalitpur.” A readable web address such as /dental-services-lalitpur is clearer than /page?id=7, while “Dentist preparing the Lalitpur clinic treatment room” explains more than the alternative text “image123”. These examples are illustrative.
How to do it
Say what the page covers, who it helps and what to do next. Google may show different text from the page in its result.
How to do it
Add a link when another page helps the reader continue or decide. My internal linking guide explains the process.
Answer local customers' questions
Does your website give local customers the facts they need?
Industry ideas
A restaurant can keep its menu current, while a clinic can explain how appointments work. A trekking company might cover routes and permits, a retailer its delivery areas, a hotel its location and access, and an ecommerce shop its payment and returns process.
How to do it
Explain who you serve there, your boundaries and how delivery or travel works. Add real local details instead of copying a page and changing only the place name.
Keep the website easy to reach and use
Can Google and your customers reliably open and use every important page?
Plain definitions
Crawling means a search engine visits a web address. Indexing means Google decides whether it can store and show that page. A canonical is the preferred web address, while a redirect sends people and search engines to another address. An XML sitemap is a list of preferred pages, but it does not guarantee that Google will include them.
How to do it
Test an example of each page type in PageSpeed Insights. Use its suggestions to investigate problems, not as promised ranking fixes.
How to do it
Set the image width and height, prepare sizes that suit the page and load off-screen images only when needed. Check the result on a phone.
Show customers they can trust you
Can customers confirm that your business and its claims are genuine?
How to do it
Template: “Thank you for choosing [Business]. If you have a moment, would you share an honest review of your experience at [review link]? It can help other customers make an informed choice.”
Review and maintain the work
Do you regularly check results, correct details and choose the next useful task?
How to do it
Write down which page addresses are affected, when you noticed the problem, whether Google should store and show those pages, and who will investigate.

Frequently asked questions
How long does SEO take in Nepal?
There is no fixed timeline. Your competition, website quality, local presence and pace of implementation all affect when you may see a measurable change. I recommend reviewing a suitable period rather than working towards a promised date.
How much does SEO cost for a small Nepali business?
A useful estimate needs a clear scope. Your site's condition, competition, target locations, content needs and technical work all affect the cost, as does whether you handle the work yourself or hire a specialist.
Can I do SEO myself?
Yes. You can complete many of the basic website, content and local profile tasks in this checklist with free Google tools. You may need specialist help for complex rendering, migrations, security, structured data or persistent indexing problems.
Is Google Business Profile free?
Yes. Google lets an eligible business add or claim a Business Profile at no charge. Advertising, photography, consultancy and third-party software are optional, separate costs.
Do Nepali keywords help SEO?
They can help when your customers genuinely search with those words. Use conversations and search data to research English, Devanagari Nepali and natural Roman Nepali, then choose the language that fits each page instead of forcing every variation into it.
How often should I update my website?
Update information whenever your business changes, and review important pages as part of regular maintenance. Do not leave incorrect hours, prices, services, policies or contact details online while waiting for a publishing date.
What is the difference between SEO and paid advertising?
SEO improves how well your site can be found and understood in unpaid search results; you do not buy each visit. Paid advertising buys placement while your campaign budget is active. The two can work together, but neither guarantees a sale or ranking.
Not sure what to tackle first?
